Project - Fragmentos del Caos
Summary
"Fragmentos del Caos" was an alternate reality game that took place at Tecnofields and Argentina Game Show in 2015. Participants received a game sheet with tasks to solve and embarked on a search through the various stands at the event.
Those who completed it received a prize!
Role
I developed this project independently, from creating the concept, story, and visual identity to its execution and supervision at the event.
We were in danger and didn't realize it.
Hundreds of participants had the opportunity to defend our planet by completing a series of missions at Tecnofields and Argentina Game Show.
The star of the conflict was a space mineral called Wassonite. This mineral had fallen to Earth some time ago, and beings from another planet called 'The Tall Whites' were following its trail. If they found it before us, we were doomed.
Participants visited different stands in search of the lost fragments, and when they managed to find them, they unveiled various riddles to continue with the mission.
Design and production
Before starting the development, I met with the event directors to define the available budget and the approach to the project. One of the key points was to know in advance the participating brands and the distribution of the stands, as the game guided you through different places within the event. With that defined, I got to work.
The game was designed considering various gamification strategies and game design methodoligies. With these, we could increase participant engagement and thereby enhance the overall reception of the event and the participating brands.
On the first day of the event, I conducted a brief training for the assistants to explain the game mechanics and how they should assist the participants.
Participants had to put their neurons to the test to solve various riddles and find all the lost fragments, from interpreting unrelated symbols to deciphering alien codes.
Over the two days, 1000 game sheets were distributed to event attendees, and almost everyone managed to complete the missions. They earned their prize!
